Make-up Trend: Smoky, Silver Eyes

Nothing adds a twinkle to the eyes like a hint of silver. On May's issue of Cine Blitz, Priyanka Chopra sported iridescent charcoal shadow finished with a fine line of black along the inner rims of her eyes.

Makeup on the lower lashline usually migrates down the face, resulting in a messy morning morning-after look. Get your sultry shadow to stay put like Priyanka's using a liquid formula, like Chanel Ombre D'eau, which dries into a longwear powder using polymers.

Make-up Trend: Flattering Eyebrows

Fake an eyelift with expertly shaped brows: a little snip here and a pluck there can take five years off your age, making your eyes appear larger and more open. Plus, well-shaped brows highlight your bone structure and open your face. The best part? No recovery time!

To get Kareena's perfectly manicured arches, comb brows upward using a fine-tooth eyebrow comb. Next, carefully trim any hairs that poke above your browline. Tweeze away errant hairs and fill in any holes with light brown eye shadow.

Harper's Bazaar Tells Us Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra's Beauty Secrets

One of the hottest actresses in Bollywood, Katrina Kaif opens up her beauty bag to share all the products she can't live without and the beauty routines she follows religiously, but says the real secret behind her fresh, luminous looks is being 'natural'.
  • What's your makeup routine?
There is no makeup 'routine'… When I am not shooting, I prefer to stay away from any embellishments. But yes, I always keep bare essentials, such as lip balm, at hand.

  • And for the big night out?
I don't use a heavy hand while doing makeup but I do pay a little more attention to my eyes when it's a big night. Doing up your eyes well makes you look fresh and alive.

  • What are your favorite products?
I don't have any favorites. What matters to me is that the product has to be from a reputed company. There has to be a certain amount of credibility. I feel that even if it may work out a bit more expensive, it's worth it.

  • What's your favorite perfume?
When I shop for perfumes (invariably in duty-free stores, while I'm traveling), I check out the new fragrances and pick up whatever catches my fancy me wearing makeup from morning to evening. Even if your lifestyle doesn't necessarily involve makeup, it's very important to use a good cleanser to remove the day's grime. Another well-known trick is to consume the right amount of water-it keeps your skin glowing.

  • How do you keep your hair looking so good?
My hair suffers quite a bit, thanks to the number of products that are used during shoots to style it. I try and take care of it by using serums or going for a hair spa. I get my hair trimmed from a good hairdresser once a month. In Mumbai, I go to Asif Rajan, Dilshad Pastakia or Sapna Bhavnani.

  • Do you have a special diet?
I'm not sure if you could call it a 'diet' but I do try and eat right. When I say eat right, I mean eating the right foods, in right quantities, at the right time. If you follow this mantra, you're sure to be not just in better shape but also feel much healthier from within.

  • What's your DIY beauty routine?
The only one I adhere to religiously is 'take off your makeup' before you hit the bed. It helps tremendously!

  • One simple trick that makes you look fabulous?
The way you look, honestly, has a lot to do with how you feel. When you are calm within, the smile naturally comes easier on the face.
Fragrances are a must for Priyanka. Is it the lipstick, cream, mascara, hair color or foundation? Or is it her infectious smile that lights up her face and brings a sparkle to her eyes? Priyanka opens up about beauty routines, favorite products and how she always looks fabulous.

  • What is your daily makeup and beauty routine?
Cleanse, tone and moisturize-nothing works better for me. As an actor, I'm required to wear a lot of makeup, whether it's for films, photo-shoots or appearances. So when I'm not working, my routine is very basic. The things that I carry with me at all times are my Pond's Perfect Results Multi-Benefit Cream and M.A.C Studio Fix.

  • And what about the big night out?
When I'm not making a public appearance, I use absolutely minimal makeup and spice it up with eyeliner, blush and lipstick. I slip on a sexy short dress and high heels, and I'm set!
  • Any favorite perfumes?
Smelling good is a must, no matter where you are or what you're doing. My current preference is Dolce & Gabbana The One, but my all time favorite is Ralph Lauren Romance.

  • How do you take care of your flawless skin?
Quite simple-cleanse, tone and moisturize. On my days off, I don't do much; I just allow my skin to breathe. I also drink lots of water and never forget my multi-vitamins. I think it's important to pamper your skin as often as you can. My crazy schedule doesn't allow me the luxury very often, but I try and get in a facial whenever possible.
  • What do you do for your hair?
Because of my profession, my hair is battered and abused. Given the trauma I put my hair through, I give it extra care. I oil my hair regularly and condition it as well. I trim my hair once in about two months or as and when I feel the need. I have different hairstylists for various films, but primarily they are Minal Sharma and Kanta Motwani.

PRIYANKA'S FAVORITES
  • Any favorite hair products?
    Anything that is Sunsilk.

  • Do you have a special diet to stay so slim?
It's called good genetics and a great metabolism. Honestly, I am a complete foodie and a junk-a-holic. Diets don't work for me. I try and eat healthy most of the time but also don't stop myself from eating what I feel like, whether it's a pepperoni pizza or aloo paratha!

  • One simple trick that makes you fabulous?
Comfort, and knowing what suits you- the fit, style and look-whether it's hair, clothes or makeup. What are you buying for this season? I never have an agenda. I just pick up what I like.

Make-up Trend: Flattering Red Lipstick

Manufacturers produce hundreds of varieties of red shades. Some are orangey, others have a hint of purple. Some have flecks of metallic, others are matte. Finding a flattering shade can be a stressful endeavor, but we have a solution!

Mughda Godse got it right. She has warm-skin and looks best in silver jewelry, so she chose a blue-based berry red. If you look better in gold jewelry, opt for a orange-based red.

Make-up Trend: Navy Smoky Eyes

Royal blue is all the rage, and like our very own Queen B, Bipasha Basu shows it with varying shades of deep indigo on her eyes. Intense metallic navy eye makeup brightens the whites of your eyes, a glamorous take on basic black rims.

There's a fine line between thick cat eyes and Bipasha's subtle yet exotic look. To create a precise line, trim a fine-point liner brush down so that only a couple of hairs remain and carefully trace along your lashlines, then blend smoky navy shadow all the way to the crease, make sure you blend any harsh lines.

  1. How do you get the perfect smoky eyes?
Apply a light shade of concealer all over the top lid. Then apply a light eye shadow in a neutral tone with a larger brush all over the eye. Follow it up with a dar eye shadow over the eye lids and blend it properly towards the crease. Apply liner and smudge it. Finish the look of with mascara.
  2. What would be a good everyday make-up routine for a natural look?
Use a concealer and pressed powder all over the face. Then follow by, a neutral eye shadow and eyeliner. Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks. Finish off with mascara and lip gloss.

  3. Should the lip liner and lipstick be the same color?
Your lip liner should be neutral in color or match the shade of your lipstick. It should not be darker so that if the lipstick fades, all you have left is a ring of liner around your lips.

  4. What is the best evening make-up regime?
Stick to natural colors as unnaturally bright eye shadows make you look older. Go for smoky eyes for a dramatic look, enhance your lashes for a doe eyed effect. Use blushes and lipsticks that suit your skin tone and with lipstick make sure they don't make your teeth look dull and yellow. Do not match your lip color, that would be too matchy-matchy, a hint of color from your outfit on your eyes (or lips) looks sophisticated. When doing dramatic eyes keep the lip neutral and likewise if you're doing bold lips one down the eyes.

  5. How do I make my eyes look bigger?
Apply concealer on the top lid of the eyes, then using an eyeliner, trace the inside rim of your upper eyelashes. Dot the eyeliner between the lashes and create a line on the top of the outermost half of your eyelid. A thick line makes your eyes small. Trace the inside of your lower last line with the eyeliner, connecting it to the inner corners of your eye. Apply mascara to the upper lashes, then use mascara on the outer corner of your top eyelashes to widen your eyes.

  6. What is the perfect red for desi skin?
The perfect shades of red for desi skin would be deep red, burgundy, winem coral and peach.

  7. How do you make thin lips look fuller?
Apply concealer and foundation on your existing lip lines. Draw lines using lip liner slightly above the natural top line and above along your bottom line. Now, apply color to the entire lip and then apply lipstick from the center of your lips. Follow it up with gloss that should be applied to the center of the lip.

  8. How do you apply blush properly?
Start just below the apple of your cheeks, then sweep the blush upwards and outwards along your cheek bone.

  9. How do you use sun screen with make-up?
Apply a thin coat of sunscreen on your face. Once it has soaked into your skin, dab off the excess cream. Now, use foundation with SPF for added protection.

  10. How do you get long and healthy nails?
Bathe your nails in salt water as it makes them stronger. After 10 to 15 minutesm use a manicure set to remove the cuticles. Be careful not to cut into your nail bed. Use a nail buffer and nail file to shape your nails. Apple a cuticle cream, massaging it into your nails. You can also use a vitamin E oil or cream for your nails. Make sure you carry a nail file or buffer so that you can quickly file you nails in case they break or chip to prevent further damage.

  11. How do you cover under-eye dark circles?
Apply eye cream under your eyes, then dab concealer, applying it over the dark circles. Apply foundation, but only a fine layer. Use an eye shadow that will lessen the dark shade under your eyes.

  12. How do you make a round face look thinner?
Apply your normal shade of foundation then use a bronxer that is a shade darker than your skin tone, running the brush along your jaw line. Contour your temples brushing up and out. Use bronzer along the hollow areas of your cheeks for an angular look. Put a soft blush on the apples of your cheeks and at the highest point of your cheekbones apply a sheer highlighter. Now lightly dust translucent powder on your face for an airbrushed touch.

  13. What are the best colors for the Indian skin tone
The best color for Indian skin tone are browns, deep brick redm plum burgundy, copper, beige and orange.

  14. How do you get rid of a shiny house?
When you are applying moisturizer to the face, avoid the nose. Instead use make-up primers or moisturizers that have mattifying properties as it will keep the shine off the nose for long hours. Use powder for your nose, but make sure the finish looks natural.

  15. How do you hide a hickey or a pimple?
Put ice on it right away and the size of the hickey/pimple will reduce. Now, yse a green cream concealer as it will either hide it completely or at least make it a little less noticeable. Apply a thick layer of foundation, blending it into the entire neck (for hickeys) or part of the face (where the pimple is) and top it with some powder. Make sure you use a shade slightly darker than your skin tone.

Make-up Trend: Shiny Blush

We typically avoid strong illuminator for fear of looking like we just ran a marathon. Neha Oberoi gave her cheeks a rosy shine and made it work by balancing it with an otherwise matte complexion.

To create Neha's radiant cheeks, blend a deep pink blush into cheeks and up towards the temples. Next sweep an ivory gold powder from the center of the apples of the cheeks and around to your browbones in a C-shape.
